What up players and playettes?!?! It’s Friday right? Of course, not having a job makes every day seem like Friday in a crappy kind of way. I wonder if anyone ever wishes that it always seems like it’s a Tuesday (besides Tuley) or some other random day. I digress…..anyway, today is a big day for all of you former Cleveland Indians fans.
Tonight the skeleton of the major league baseball team formerly known as the Indians start off a 3 game weekend series against the Tigers. This will be the first home game for the Tribe since they traded away former Cy Young award winner Cliff Lee, Ben Francisco, and Ryan Garko for a bunch of minor leaugers who have zero body hair and won’t be ready to do anything in baseball for the next 5 years. I believe the trading deadline is at 4 pm eastern time today, and if that is the case, it is very possible that Victor Martinez will also be on the move. The rumor is that he is going to Boston………no…..f-ing….way!!!
So in honor of all of the Tribe fans who have been getting fisted by the organization for such a long time, Tuley and I, along with hundreds of other non-violent protesters have decided to attend tonight’s game, well attend the first 6 innings of the game, wearing paper bags on our heads. Carl Pavano is our #1 starter?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
In the 6th inning, or perhaps earlier depending on whether or not the team self destructs before then, our group of 100+ people wearing paper bags will get up and exit the stadium in a single file line. We will not further support the team by purchasing any food or beverages once inside the stadium, except for I might get some nachos…..but then after we leave the game we are going to hang out downtown while continuing to wear our paper bags. Unless of course we get arrested for creeping people out.
If anyone is interested in taking part in our little Gandhi-like protest then you can either meet us downtown around 6:45, or leave a message on the blog or on the facebook “Progressive Field Walk-Out” event page. I think it was Rambo who once said “you have to be the change that you want to see in the world…” well what we’re doing is like that, but without all of the death and explosions. Unless that is what Eric Wedge really wants…..just kidding. Anyway does someone have 100+ paper bags that I can borrow?
That’s all for this morning. I want to leave you with a video from Kermit the Frog singing what I am really feeling right now because the Indians have broken my heart for the last time. One Love (this does not apply to the Indians anymore)!
